The new homestead in WNC

The new homestead in WNC

Yes! We made the big, long-awaited move to the mountains of WNC near to Asheville. We found a modest 1.5 acre lot with a lovely, spacious home to call our own. Here we live rurally and are free to pursue our homesteading endeavors ’til our hearts content! I am eager to post pictures and stories to share with friends and family who are interested in our adventures. Here’s to a Happy New Year full of all good things for all of us!

Living Room April 21, 2012

We’ve recently listed our house on both the Fort Myers and NaplesMLS!  Now we just need to pack up and prepare to move to the Asheville area of NC (a dream come true)!  Here are a few pics of the Living Room.

The living room is huge and faces the front of the house. Generous windows give a great view of the front yard and street. The floor is finished with neutral 18" porcelain tile throughout living room, dining room, kitchen and halls. The living room features an over-sized paddle fan, 14' vaulted ceilings and surround sound wiring.

The living room also features 14' ceilings, over-sized ceiling fan and large plant shelf with lighting outlet.

The entrance area flanks the stairs and is large enough to accommodate additional furniture in the living room.

We’ve finally listed our house on both the Fort Myers and Naples MLS!  Now we just need to pack up and prepare to move to the Asheville area of NC (a dream come true)!  Here are a couple pics of the Master Bedroom.

The master bedroom is absolutely huge, shown here dwarfing a king-sized furniture set! The vaulted ceilings and large paddle fan are nice additions. The floor is wood laminate in great condition and the walls are newly painted. This room is wired for surround sound.

French doors separate the master bedroom from the upstairs loft. Accent lighting provides good reading light.

We’ve begun preparing the house to sell as we pack up and get ready to move to the Asheville area of NC (a dream come true).  Here are a couple pics of the Master Bath.

The master bath is very large and has recently been repainted. It features large his and her closets and vaulted ceilings.

The master bath has an over-sized garden tub and separate lighting.

Autumn in High Springs

As much as we like the home we’ve created for ourselves here in SW FL, we are highly considering a move to a place that can better accommodate our love of animals.  We are trying to find the right balance between something with high speed internet and something zoned Ag.  Finding the right property is harder than you think!  North central Florida has our attention right now as both hubby and I attended UF in Gainesville and we like the progressive edge to the culture there.  We might even find ourselves in the midst of a whole population of tree-hugging, nature lovers just like us!  Gosh, what would that be like? …:daydreams:…

We’ve spent a serious amount of time looking , and so far we have not found that one place where everything just falls in place.  It’s daunting at times, but we will keep looking.  The special place for us has got to be out there, right?!

Here are some highlights from one of the last house-hunting trips we took:

One day, we'll live out in the country...

...in a home with a picket fence...

...a swing in a breezy spot...

and a front porch with rockers where we can sip fresh lemonade...

...and enjoy the view.

...

We'll have the best neighbors...

...

...

We'll be able to grow all of our favorite things...

...

...and keep all our favorite animals...

...and still be close enough to walk or bike to town...

...where we can visit friends...

...who'll keep us company while we grab a treat.
